Heartland Knitting Retreat
The weather forecast looms dark with ice and snow but I remain confident that knitters near and far will make our pilgrimage to Delavan, WI for the 2nd Annual Heartland Knitting Retreat.
I’m almost ready to go…well at least I’ve packed the important stuff…all the yarn for the tasting and the gifting. I stuffed my husband’s largest pulley suitcase with all the small wound up bits of tasty tidbits to be sampled. I have another two bags stuffed with yarn giveaways. Each weekend attendee will go home with at least two skeins of luscious fiber one from the Sunday Yarn Tasting and one from our Friday evening meet and greet slumber party. We’ll be sampling over 30 different wonderful fibers at Sunday’s Yarn Tasting.
I should be busy packing my clothes but my jeans are in the dryer and I do not expect to be able to hit the road until noon-ish anyway. That will give the crews time to clear the roads of the expected overnight and early morning snowfall. Besides…all’s I really need are some pointy needles and yummy fiber and I’ll be ready for a weekend in paradise well… and my sock monkey pajamas. I am so in need of one of the Friday evening chair massages and I can’t wait to wrap my lips around another bowl of that really great stockpot soup they serve. I need this getaway to relax and commune with other knitters…and I am not going to let a little bit of ice and snow keep me from spending a terrific weekend in Wisconsin.
