Michigan “Lightening Bolt” Socks

I started this sock better than two years ago…It’s knit from Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock in a special University of Michigan colorway only stocked by Threadbear. I knit the heel and toe in Lorna’s navy using reinforcing thread to prevent another mishap by my husband’s razor-like toenails. The goal is to finish up sock two by March 7th and give them to him as a birthday gift. I am feeling pretty confident that I can get sock two done…Check out the flip side of this sock…

Doesn’t the pooling look like a lightening bolt? After I am done with my stash of self striping yarns I am totally sticking to solids and mottled shades. I am not a big fan of the pooling and frankly I like knitting socks in fancy stitch patterns much better than basic patterns and striping yarns just aren’t great with that…I find them rather limiting.

Oh….and speaking of Threadbear…I would like to arrange an excursion to Lansing by renting a tour bus to drive a bunch of Chicagoland knitters to the Michigan yarn shop. My plans will also include arranging for lunch along the way. Any takers? Please let me know and I will begin the process and set the trip up.
Earlier this week I got a “cold call” from a lovely woman from Michigan, about a wonderful opportunity of selling something I love…Okay so I know your first thoughts are probably knitting related and boy wouldn’t that be fabulous but it’s not…I am now a consultant for The Body Shop at Home. If you haven’t tried their products you are truly in for a treat…they are wonderful…..my family has been a fan of their products for years. It’s a great company with a terrific philosophy and I am really looking forward to being a part of that. For all you locals…I would love it if you would let me introduce you and your friends and family to a Girls Night Out Spa experience. And for those of you not so local…I am hoping to have a website up very soon where I can take your orders. Since I have only been a consultant for a few hours I am not yet properly equipped.

I had one of these parties myself a number of years ago and loved it…it was their foot fun party and the thing I really love about these parties is that everyone goes home with the gift of softer skin scented with a sweet smelling fragrance. There are 4 different parties to choose from…I know I have shared my personal make-up mishaps so might I suggest one of the other three :)
