When you go on a trip you just have to bring home some souvenirs

After dining at The Kitchen Table I purchased The Kitchen Table recipe book authored by Meg’s sister Lloie Schwartz and published by Schoolhouse Press. I collect cookbooks so adding this to my collection seemed like the natural thing to do. If you catch a glimpse of her from the kitchen you’ll see that Lloie is equally as stunning as Meg and they both have those classic good looks that we all admire.

Before I had even packed my suitcase to leave I had pretty much planned my purchases just two items Meg’s Handknitting book and some yarn for the Dubbelmossa hat…well that was until I saw “the hat”. I fell hard for a sweet little beanie knit by Elizabeth out of J&S Shetland and done up in a cute design of staggered blocks of color. So after I studied the hat carefully and wrote up the pattern I bought the yarn in the closest possible colors so I could take it home with me. The blue and white wheels of yarn are unspun Icelandic for the Dubbelmosa.

I thought that having the opportunity to visit Schoolhouse Press was a treat in itself but as we entered the new 2 year old building we were handed a tote bag with goodies inside. I think it’s too cool that I now am the proud owner of a Schoolhouse Press pocketknife. Other goodies include some large coiless safety pins, a small tablet of Post-it notes, a pencil and three patterns. Thank you once again for the lovely party favors Meg and company.

The nicest part of all this is that I stayed totally within the budget I had set for myself before I left. I only was allowing myself to spend the cash I earned from knitting for commission.

In full disclosure I did aid and abet the spending of others I told Nic that she couldn’t leave without dropping some dimes on souvenirs, and I showed Jen one of my favorite hat books Hats On! after she had already checked out and this sent her back to the registers :)

After we returned to the hotel to share our finds the Hats On! book by Charlene Schurch caught on and by proxy I helped Meg sell another 5-6 more copies. Seriously..ladies you’ll love the book. I knit from it all the time and it’s a great way to try out new techniques and styles of knitting, you’ll be so happy you have it…it’s money well spent.
