Spring is Here!

Ah spring…these past couple of days have been glorious.  I’ve had the past 4 days off from work so I was able to walk the yard and see what ’sup.  I was totally shocked to see that my bleeding hearts and violets were in full bloom.

There is also a morning dove nesting on our porch light…you can’t see both of the hatchlings but she has two that I can confirm for sure.

Lastly I have a picture of the progress I’ve made on my crocheted shawl…which I am sad to say isn’t progressing all that quickly.  I have been reading books and making cards instead of crocheting.

What else????  Oh!!!!  about those books…if anyone is looking for a good read then might I suggest any one of Jessica Day George’s books.  The author likes to weave a good dose of needlework in varying types into her novels which I found to be quite delightful.  In her book Princess of the Midnight Ball , the lead male is a knitter and his knitting quite literally saves the day.  In Dragon Slippers and the sequel Dragon Flight both embroidery and sewing are the needleworks of choice for the heroine.  Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow, there is some embroidery that is at play as well as drop spinning.  I am guessing that in the conclusion to the Dragon Slippers trilogy, Dragon Spear , that Creel will still be stitching right up until the end.  I am 7th on the hold list for that one when it comes out….totally holding my breath until then.

I’ve sent in registration for Meg Swansen’s fall knitting camp Oct 1st-4th.  I think we are steeking, I just really need a girl’s weekend to look forward to and I had such a great time at the 2007  camp.  It was as easy decision to sign up for more Meg and Amy fun.  I can’t wait to see all of you repeat campers!  We’ll have a great time…but then that is a bit of a ways off now isn’t it?
